Dr. Stefan Wesarg
Stefan Wesarg studied Physics at the Technische Universität Berlin, Germany, the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Physique de Marseille (now Centrale Marseille), France, and the Universität Heidelberg, Germany. During his studies, he specialized in Medical Physics and carried out his diploma thesis work at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) Heidelberg, Germany.
From 2001 to 2007, he was a researcher at the Fraunhofer IGD Darmstadt, Germany, in the department Cognitive Computing & Medical Imaging (deputy head from 2006 to 2007). In 2007 he received his Ph.D. (Dr.-Ing.) in Computer Science from the Technische Universität Darmstadt. From 2007 until end of 2011, he held a PostDoc position at the Interactive Graphics Systems Group (GRIS) at Technische Universität Darmstadt. Since 2012, Stefan Wesarg is head of department Visual Healthcare Technologies at Fraunhofer IGD. His group’s work is focused on image-based analysis methods in medicine: · digital patient twins for medical simulation and planning, · automated diagnosis, · tools for clinical decision support, · image-guided interventions and surgery. |
